Meg Ryan to direct film!

Meg Ryan is resurrecting her lackluster career.

The actress is set to step behind the camera and direct her first movie.

The film titled Into The Beautiful centers on friends reuniting after a long time apart.

“I’m often drawn to pictures that make you laugh and cry,” the film’s producer,Wendy Finerman, told trade ragVariety.

“I think this is the perfect project for Meg to bring to life. She’s poignant and funny and heartfelt.”

Ryan is best known for hit romantic comedies When Harry Met Sally,Sleepless in Seattle, and You’ve Got Mail. She was last seen on the big screen in a less successful romcom,Serious Moonlight, in 2009. She starred in another poorly reviewed effort, ensemble flick The Women, in 2008.

Meanwhile, Meg and rocker John Mellencamp are still going strong!

The couple who hooked up earlier this year were seen getting cozy at New York’s Breslin Bar & Dining Room earlier this week, reports the New York Post.

Sources say the duo were “kissing and canoodling” as they enjoyed their meal.

When Meg and John were first linked, sources said Ryan enjoyed the fact her new relationship attracted lots of media interest.

“Meg couldn’t be happier,” a pal said at the time.

“Not only has she got a great new guy, she’s back in the headlines. It’s not easy going from being one of the highest paid actresses in the world to an anonymous New Yorker. Meg’s loving all this attention again.

“Meg would much rather be back on the cover of the magazines announcing a hit new movie, but unfortunately that isn’t the case.

“Now folks are much more interested in your private life than if you have a hit movie.

“Look at Kate Gosselin or Kim Kardashian. They are always on magazine covers talking about their love life.”
