Anne Hathaway overjoyed to host the Oscar!

Anne Hathaway admits she felt “so much joy” when she hosted the Oscars.

The actress and her co-host James Franco received a great deal of criticism after helming proceedings at this year’s ceremony.

But despite her detractors and the sheer scale of the event, Anne still found a lot to enjoy on the night.

“The experience was so big. The bigness of it was so overwhelming. But at the same time I felt so much joy to get to be a part of movie history,” Anne said.

“You know, the critics were tough. They said we were the worst show ever. I think that qualifies as tough!”

The Rio star doesn’t dwell on the critics’ comments and instead is proud that no matter what else happens in her career she can always say she hosted the 83rd Academy Awards in 2011.

“I think about the Oscars as several different experiences. There was the critical reaction, which was awful. Then there are the people who have been coming up to me since then who stop and say, ‘I thought it was fantastic. I watched it with my family and we were entertained.’ I am very grateful to those people,” she added.

“And then there’s my memory of it which is, whether it was great or whether it stunk, who knows? I still got to walk out at the Kodak (Los Angeles’ Kodak Theatre) and see those people and someday I’ll get to tell my grandkids about it.”

Anne, 28, won’t completely rule out ever taking control of the Oscars again.

“Why not? I don’t know. Maybe. Perhaps. No,” Anne said when asked if she’d return as host.
