Christian Slater Hollywood a dangerous place!

Christian Slater says important for today’s young stars to surround themselves with people they can trust.

The former Hollywood hell raiser who struggled with drug and alcohol addiction and was even imprisoned during his wild youth says fame is full of perils and pitfalls.

“Some of these guys don’t realize that there are a lot of traps you can fall into,” said Slater. “I’m very fortunate that I have good people around me now who encourage me to give something back rather than just be selfish like I used to.

“You need people around to remind you that the truth hurts but bullsh** kills. There’s a big world out there but some people need to realize that it doesn’t all revolve around Hollywood.”

Slater recently revealed he “reached out” to Lindsay Lohan to help her deal with her rehabilitation.

Former drug addict Christian admits he has tried to help the 24-year-old star who finished her fifth rehab stay in early January by sending her an email because he understands how difficult it is to deal with dependency issues.

“Addiction is not pretty and you don’t fully understand it unless you’re dealing with it head-on,” he said.

“That’s why when I see other kids struggling, I will sometimes reach out to them a call or an email.”
