Helen Mirren working with Russell Brand was mad!

Helen Mirren says filming Arthur with Russell Brand was one of the most difficult experiences of her long acting career.

The Oscar winner plays Russell’s butler in the remake of the 1981 Dudley Moore classic but it all proved too much for her at times.

“It was an absolute madhouse,” says Helen. “We were filming outside Grand Central Station at rush hour on one of the hottest days of the year.

“It was crazy and very difficult because Russell is so easily recognized. I was able to hide away but he was always noticed. But he was so gracious to everyone. I don’t know how he does it.”

“Nothing, just get me the script,” Helen said. “You don’t have to do anything. I’m there. Absolutely.”

Mirren recently insisted she never wanted children in case they grew up to be like her.

The actress who has been married to American film director Taylor Hackford for 13 years admits she considered having kids to serve as a “memory” of some of her previous relationships but is certain her decision not to be a parent was the right one.

“There were men in my life with whom I would like to have had children this lovely little thing as a memory of this or that relationship,” Helen said.

“But children grow up and become emotional attachments. They don’t want to see you and they behave like I behaved as a teenager.”
